CM hikes junior teachers’ salary by 50%
Bhubaneswar: On Monday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik increased the pay of junior teachers in basic schools by up to 50%.
A total of 33,038 instructors will gain from the decision.
The increase will take effect on January 1, 2022. There will be 13,324 contractual junior teachers and 19,714 junior teachers who will benefit from it.
Contractual junior teachers earning Rs 7,400 per month would now earn Rs 11,000 as a result of the decision.
Junior instructors who were previously paid Rs 9,200 per month will now be paid Rs 13,800.
Annually, the measure will cost the state exchequer Rs 168 crore.
