Odisha Govt to reduce 30% syllabus for class IX and X this year
Bhubaneswar, Jun 23: Odisha Government has decided to reduce the syllabus of classes IX and X by 30 per cent this year in view of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, said Odisha School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash on Wednesday.
“No decision has been taken yet regarding the reopening of schools due to the Covid-19 situation. Though the classes are currently underway through YouTube in the State, it is not possible on the part of each and every student to avail online education. Hence, the Government has decided to reduce the syllabus of classes IX and X by 30 per cent this year,” Dash said.
“It is also learnt that private school children continue to take classes online, while public school children are more likely to be affected. Therefore, the Government has made plans to educate the students of class I to X through YouTube,” he added.
Last year, the State Government had also reduced the syllabus of classes I to X by 30 per cent due to the pandemic.
Meanwhile, the State Government began online classes for class I-VIII in select districts and classes IX & X in all the districts through YouTube since Monday.
However, very few students are taking part in the online classes due to lack of mobile connectivity, internet facilities or some other reasons.
