Makar Sankarnti: ten injured in stampede at Singhanath Temple in Cuttack’s Badamba
Cuttack: Across Saturday, a stampede on a bridge connecting to a shrine in Odisha's Cuttack district reportedly injured more than ten persons, including women and children.
According to authorities, a significant number of devotees attended the Makar Mela at Singhanath temple in the district's Athgarh on the festival of Makar Sankranti. In the absence of boat facilities, it caused a huge rush on the Gopinathpur-Badamba T Bridge, which connects to the temple located on the Mahanadi River.
There was a stampede-like situation on the bridge as the number of tourists increased. According to sources, the rush injured at least 12 individuals, including four women and three children.
