Voting picks up in Odisha's Pipili, 45.32% turnout till 1 pm
Puri: The turnout in the current Pipili bypoll has increased and on Thursday, by 1 p.m., increased to 45.32%.
Chief Electoral Officer Sushil Kumar Lohani stated in a speech to the media in Bhubaneswar that the voting was carried out in all the booths smoothly and that there were no recorded incidents of law and law and order.
During the mockery polls, he stated that two voting units, two control units and twelve VVPAT units had technical gaps. But they were replaced immediately and polling started at 7 a.m.
For the first time, he said 20 model stands have been put up with additional facilities such as polling stations, seating arrangements and enough potable water supplies.
The CEO hoped that the voter turnout would increase later in the day, due to the dry weather.
At 9 a.m., two hours after the polls started, voter turnout was 7.8 percent.
