Passengers hit as bus services halt in Bhadrak

Bhadrak: In a show of defiance against alleged extortion demands, the Bhadrak bus syndicate shut down all bus services in the area on Tuesday.

According to accounts, the agitators claimed that criminals had been intercepting the buses and mistreating them while demanding money (daadaabati) from the drivers and conductors under the guise of Durga Puja.

On Monday, some miscreants are said to have stopped six buses at Soro and demanded money from the conductors and drivers.

Although they reported this to the police, they continued, no action had yet been taken.

As a result, customers are now stuck at the bus stop waiting for services to resume.

Bhadrak Town Police had arrived on the scene and were attempting to appease the bus syndicate as this report was filed. They are also anticipated to have a conversation with the sub-collector.
