Bhubaneswar: Prabodh Rout, an eminent writer and the secretary of the Odisha Sahitya Akademi, died on Tuesday while receiving treatment at a private hospital in here.
According to sources, Rout was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after an accident occurred last Sunday when a stray dog ran in front of his motorcycle.
"Despite the best treatment, he suffered severe brain injury in the accident and could not be saved." He was not only an effective administrator, but also an excellent writer. "I express my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family," Cuttack Collector Bhabani Shankar Chayani said.
Rout's untimely death was also mourned by members of the Odisha Sahitya Akademi.
