Bahuda Yatra: Lord Jagannath andSiblings Begin Their Return Home

Puri: On the Bada Danda (Grand Road) in Odisha's Puri, the Triad began their trek back to Jagannath Temple, with Taladhwaja of Lord Balabhadra leading the way.

The Lords had gone on a nine-day annual pilgrimage to Gundicha Temple, their birthplace. To say goodbye to the twin deities, the shrine was decorated with flowers.

Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra, and Lord Sudarshan's Pahandi (procession) rite, in which they were brought upon their respective chariots from the inner sanctum of Gundicha Temple, finished ahead of schedule at 10 a.m.

Puri Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb conducted Chhera Panhara, the ritual sweeping of the three chariot floors with a golden broom, about 12.30 p.m., accompanied by chanting of "Hari Bol," conch shell blowing, and cymbal thumping.

The Lord's Bahuda Yatra is being held with public participation and in accordance with the COVID protocol, as it was last year.
