Paris Olympics 2024: Wrestler Antim Panghal faces a three-year ban by IOA for indiscipline, reports say.

According to sources close to the Indian contingent, wrestler Antim Panghal may face a three-year ban from the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) for an incident of indiscipline during the Olympic Games. It has been reported that Panghal attempted to use her accreditation card to help her sister gain unauthorized access to the athletes' village, causing embarrassment to the Indian Olympic contingent. As a result, she is expected to receive a formal ban from the IOA after returning to India.

Following this breach of discipline, the Indian Olympic Association decided to send Antim Panghal and her support staff back home, as reported by the French authorities. It was alleged that her sister was detained by the Paris police for impersonation and taken to a police station for questioning.

Antim Panghal has denied these allegations, stating that her sister was not detained but was asked to come in for verification. She also mentioned that her tickets had been pre-booked and she had not been instructed to leave Paris by the Indian Olympic authorities. In a video posted by nnis Sports, Panghal explained that she had fallen ill after losing her bout the previous day and refuted the claims of her and her sister's detainment.
