Sundergarh: Police arrested the alleged lover of the woman postmaster, whose body with multiple stab wounds was discovered the day before in a forest under the Lefripada police limits in Odisha's Sundargarh district.
Nayan Seth, the person arrested, has been identified.
According to police sources, Seth suspected Snigdha Pradhan, a Telendihi postmaster, of causing a schism between their families and plotted to murder her. He even went out and bought a new knife, then stabbed her multiple times after an argument on Monday. He then stoned her to death before burying her body in a field near the Belsariapada forest. When police recovered the knife, it was found lodged in her body.
Nayan even messaged Snigdha's mother on WhatsApp about the murder and the location of the body after committing the crime. The message also claimed that her lover, Nayan, was murdered and his body was disposed of in Sarafgarh, but this was later proven to be false.
Snigdha's family had also told police about the relationship and that she had gone missing after meeting him. Following that, police apprehended Nayan, who allegedly confessed to the crime.
