Two kanwariyas went missing after being swept away while taking a dip in the Salandi river on their way to a Shiva temple in Odisha's Balasore district to pour holy water.

According to sources, the incident occurred in the Barada panchayat area of the district's Khaira block on Monday, when the kanwariyas were on their way to the Shiva temple to perform special rituals on the auspicious occasion of Shravan month.
The two went missing while swimming in the river after being swept away by the strong current. Another kanwariya had also gotten into trouble in the deep water, but he was rescued. A search has been launched to find the two missing devotees.
The missing kanwariyas were said to be from the district's Sana Jaipur village.
On Monday in the holy month of Shravan, devotees were reportedly making their way to a Shiv temple in Barada under Khaira block to pour holy water on Shivling.
