Cuttack: On Wednesday, a woman was discovered dead in a locked temporary shed at Trinath slum in Odisha's Cuttack's Jagatpur Industrial Estate.
Kabita Behera has been identified as the deceased.
Kabita and her husband Karunakar Mahalik had been living in the area for the past few months, according to sources. It is suspected that Kabita was murdered by Karunakar, whom she recently married after the death of her first husband, as he has gone missing since the incident.
Locals said Kabita and her husband Karunakar frequently fought over trivial matters. They fought again on Tuesday night. Her body was discovered in a makeshift shop she had set up to make ends meet.
"The couple had a disagreement, and it is suspected that she was murdered because there is a strangulation mark and some injuries on her body," said Zone-1 ACP Arun Swain.
