Bhubaneswar: Archana Nag was granted conditional bail by the Orissa High Court on Wednesday in an alleged sextortion case filed at the Khandagiri police station.
In April of this year, she was granted bail in a case filed at Nayapalli police station. She, on the other hand, will remain in jail because she was arrested in a similar case registered by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
The alleged honeytrap racket kingpin has been imprisoned since her arrest by Khandagiri Police on October 6, last year, on charges of human trafficking, among other things. Shradhanjali Nayak, a former associate, claimed Archana forced women into prostitution and that she was a victim of the racket.
Akshay Parija, a film producer, also filed a FIR at Nayapalli police station, accusing her of demanding Rs 3 crore by threatening to leak his obscene videos.
After a woman accused him of casting couch, the filmmaker filed a complaint with Nayapalli police.
Archana had petitioned the high court after the second additional sessions judge in Bhubaneswar denied her bail application, stating, "During investigation so far, the material collected by the IO, prima facie shows the present petitioner's involvement in extortion of money."
