Koraput: The district government has imposed Section 144 of the CrPC in the Deomali hill range in Odisha's Koraput, prohibiting all illegal tourists and foreigners from entering the area between 9 p.m. and 8 a.m. unless expressly approved.

According to District Magistrate Abdaal M Akhtar's notice, the prohibitory orders would be in force from 12 noon on Tuesday for a term of 60 days.

"Any person found breaking the order shall be prosecuted under Section 15 of the Environment Protection Act, 1986, in addition to legal action under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), 1860 and other sections as appropriate," the notice added.

Notably, the decision was made to protect the natural environment and ecology since non-designated campfires were causing damage to the habitat as well as the government property at Deomali.
