Bhubaneswar: A police complaint has been filed against the producer, director, and actress of the recently released Odia film 'Priye Tu Mo Siye' at Kalinganagar police station for alleged 'casteist' dialogue in the film.

Jhilik Bhattacharjee's Jhilik Motion Pictures produced the film, which stars Amlan Das and Elina Samantaray in lead roles. On June 28, it was released during the Bahuda Yatra of Jagannath temple deities.

According to sources, Sukinda Dalit Manch has filed a complaint with the police station regarding the use of the word 'Harijan' in the film.  Members have demanded that the film's screening be halted and that the makers be arrested, claiming that the makers violated a Supreme Court ruling prohibiting the use of this word.

Another complaint has been filed in Rayagada against the makers. The actress is said to have mouthed the dialogue. The film's director is Sudhanshu Mohan.

In 2017, the Supreme Court ruled that calling someone by these names is now considered abusive and offensive. It is used to intentionally insult and humiliate someone rather than to denote a caste.

Notably, Jhilik is the wife of Sukinda MLA Pritiranjan Gharai, who is Minister of State for Rural Development in Odisha's Naveen Patnaik-led BJD government.
