Sonepur: During his visit to Odisha's Sonepur district on Tuesday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers reportedly threw eggs at his carcade near Kota Samalei-Ulunda road, amid ongoing protests against 5T Secretary VK Pandian's whirlwind Odisha tour.

The protesters claimed that it was not an official visit, but rather a Biju Janata Dal (BJD) program.

The state's opposition parties have accused the 5T secretary of violating service conduct rules and promoting the ruling BJD in the name of government programs.

During his visit to Jagatsinghpur district on June 29, BJP leaders and workers dressed in black released black balloons and raised the "Pandian Go Back" slogan.

The BJP launched a scathing attack on the BJD government in Odisha over the 5T Secretary on Monday, demanding to know whether action had been taken on the Centre's letter pertaining to the IAS officer. Rupesh Kumar, an undersecretary in the DoPT, recently wrote to Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena and forwarded the June 24 complaint for "action as appropriate."

Aparajita Sarangi, a BJP MP from Bhubaneswar, had requested disciplinary action against the officer for violating All India service rules by holding public meetings and announcing new government schemes. Congress had also written to the Centre on the subject.
