Jatni MLA Suresh Routray's Son Manmath Routray Suspended From Congress

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Congress removed Manmath Routray, the son of six-time MLA from Jatni Suresh Routray, from the party on Friday for a "gross violation of discipline."
"You have clearly stated in the media that you are independent and have no ties to any political party."
Despite being a PCC member, you have specifically stated that you do not belong to the Indian National Congress. You also stated that you are allowed to attend the BJP and BJD offices. You were served with a show cause notice yesterday but did not react.
"The Disciplinary Action Committee deems it a gross violation of discipline, and you are suspended from the party," the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) stated.
This comes a day after the senior Congress politician stated that his younger son Manmath would run for the Jatni Assembly seat on a Congress ticket, contradicting the latter's prior public announcement.
Speaking to some local channels on Wednesday, Manmath stated that he decided not to run on a Congress ticket after consulting people in the Jatni constituency, who urged that he choose a long-term career in politics, and that the name of the party would be revealed in October. Routray senior had previously stated that his son will choose the party with which he would run in the future elections. This raised the possibility that he may join the BJD in October.
The unilateral statement by Routray regarding his son running for Congress from Jatni has also not gone down well with the party leadership, and he may face disciplinary punishment as well, according to sources.
