2 killed, one critical in group clash during 'Chaitra Parba'  in Koraput

Jeypore: On Thursday night, two youths were slain in a conflict between villagers at Sindhipar village in Odisha's Koraput district during 'Chaitra Parba.'

Debendra Jani and Purna Nayak of Jhadiguda village were identified as the victims.

According to sources, on Thursday night, a group of villagers from Jhadiguda went to Sindhipar hamlet to watch 'Chaitra Parba.' The people of Jhadiguda and Sindhipar got into a fight over a minor problem. Soon after, a clash erupted, and Jani and Nayak, both from Jhadiguda, were slain.

Another villagers, identified as Somnath Dami, was severely injured in the fight. After his condition worsened, he was transferred to a hospital in Visakhapatnam.

A police team lead by IIC Gourahari Sahu of Damanjodi police station arrived on the scene. Some locals are being interrogated, but the primary suspect remains at large.

Two police platoons have been stationed in the region.
