50 Maoist sympathisers surrender before DGP

Malkangiri: On Thursday, 50 Maoist followers surrendered in Malkangiri district, marking a big victory for Odisha police in their efforts to divert people away from the path of bloodshed.

During a visit to Swabhiman Anchal in the district, Maoist sympathisers, including two women, surrendered to Director General of Police (DGP) Sunil Bansal.

The DGP greeted the surrendered members and urged others who had joined the proscribed organisation to rejoin society.

According to sources, the surrendered Maoists will be compensated and provided a rehabilitation package in accordance with the Odisha government's policy.

Bansal engaged with security troops and discussed security plans with BSF and COBRA Battalion officers during his visit to the BSF camp in Jantri, Swabhiman Anchal, on the border with Andhra Pradesh.

The debate was attended by senior police personnel such as assistant DG, Crime Branch Sanjib Panda, IG (Operations) Amitabh Thakur, and DIG Rajesh Pandit.

Later, the DGP also dedicated the new Mathili police station building.
