Cop in Odisha caught on camera abusing woman on the duty, arrested

Angul: Nilamani Mohanty, a sub-inspector at the Banarpal police station in this city, was arrested on Friday for reportedly misbehaving with a woman late last night at her house while inebriated.
On social media, a video of the incident has gone viral.
Mohanty, a former defence personnel, was hired on a contract basis as a sub-inspector at the police station after he departed from duty.
On Thursday night, Mohanty was patrolling the roadway when he allegedly knocked on the victim's door around 3 a.m. in Angarua village. The woman claimed that when she opened the door, Mohanty began verbally harassing her. She was able to record a video of the occurrence on her phone.
She filed a police report in Talcher and presented the video as evidence the next morning. Following that, Mohanty was apprehended.
“We determined the incident true and arrested the accused after conducting a primary investigation based on the allegation and video. Today, he will be delivered to the court. “An investigation into the event is ongoing,” a police official said.
