Bhubaneswar: The final electoral roll for the next local body elections would be ready by the end of February, according to State Election Commissioner A P Padhi.

The draught electoral roll will be made public for the first time on February 10. Between February 11 and 16, citizens can file objections with the election officer. On February 18, these will be validated. The amended voter list will be made public on February 24 and must be submitted to the Election Commission by February 28.

"No new voters will be added to the list since the Assembly constituency-wise electoral roll database was generated on January 1," he noted.

Names that were lost during the creation of ward-by-ward electoral rolls for the ULB elections can be restored. "If the name of a voter from one ward is accidentally added to another ward," he continued, "correction will be allowed."

Padhi stated that after the wards are separated, the draught electoral roll will be released, and for the first time, both soft and physical copies of the draught will be shared with national and state-level parties.

"It will also be provided on a fee basis for others," he added.

Earlier in the day, the reservation list for councillors in the state's 107 Urban Local Bodies (NAC/Municipality) was revealed.

The state electoral commission had already received the department's final ward delimitation and reservation list for three municipal corporations (SEC). In Bhubaneswar and Berhampur municipal corporations, the mayorship is reserved for women candidates, however in Cuttack Municipal Corporation, it is not (CMC).

ULB elections have not been held since 2018, and the SEC is expected to announce the dates in March, following the five-phase rural votes.

Odisha's three-tier panchayat elections will take place from February 16 to 24. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on February 16, 18, 20, 22, and 24. The results will be announced on the 26th, 27th, and 28th of February. The counting will take place at the block level, rather than at the booth level.
