Bhubaneswar: There are four contract employees of the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, Odisha, who are suspected of spying. Odisha's Crime Branch (CB) has taken over the investigation.

The CB tweeted that a four-member investigation team led by Additional SP Prasant Ku Bisoyi is on its way to Balasore SP Sudhanshu Mishra's office to take over the probe.

An Odisha police squad lead by Inspector General (Eastern Range) Himashu Lal arrested the four on Tuesday based on intelligence inputs.

According to preliminary investigations, the four were honeytrapped in order to gather information on the activities at the test site. Initially, the agents had sent them messages over Facebook Messenger, and then they began chatting with each other using WhatsApp audio and video chats.

Iswar Behera's case was investigated by the Crime Branch, which was then contacted by the Inspector General.

For providing ITR's most sensitive photos with Pakistan's spy agency, Behera, was detained on January 23, 2015.

Crime Branch was ordered to investigate his activities by the Odisha government on January 30, 2015. Orissa and beyond had been investigated by a three-member crime branch team led by an officer with a rank equivalent to an additional superintendent of police (ASP).

In February of this year, he was given a life sentence by a judge.

ITR and PXE, both of which are part of DRDO, are located at Chandipur, where a variety of missiles and ammunition are tested.
