Bhubaneswar: Vaccines will be given to expectant mothers in the Odisha capital starting Wednesday.

Covaxin will be provided for immunisation of pregnant women in Capital Hospital and all government UPHCs and UCHCs, according to health department sources. Every Wednesday and Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the classes will take place.

To the vaccination centre, pregnant women must bring a valid ID (Aadhar/PAN Card) and MCP (mother and child protection).

Following the conclusion of ASHA, Anganwadi, and health worker training, the state's inoculation push for this group of beneficiaries began on July 17. On the first day, 1,284 pregnant women received the vaccine.

In the first round, almost 4.5 lakh pregnant women will be vaccinated, according to the sources.

Beneficiaries will be counselled about the vaccine's benefits as well as any potential negative effects, according to the recommendations. They will be given the vaccine after they have given their consent.

They will not have to wait in lines at vaccination centres, and special waiting rooms have been set aside for them. Following immunisation, all pregnant women will be monitored for at least 30 minutes for any possible side effects.
