Bhubaneswar: Despite the fact that Odisha need 2 lakh school teachers to meet Right to Education requirements, the state government has begun the process of hiring 16,000 teachers by November.

School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash told the media on Wednesday that because chief minister Naveen Patnaik places a high importance on school education, all possible steps are being made to fill teacher shortages across the state.

"The administration has begun the process of recruiting around 16000 teachers, which will be completed by the end of November or early December," the minister stated.

The Minister further stated that applicants who passed the Computer Based Test had their documents verified by the Directorate of Secondary Education (DSE) (CBT).

It should be mentioned that the Uneso claimed in its 'No Teacher, No Class: State of Education Report for India-2021' released last month that 3,197 schools in Odisha, both public and private, each have one teacher. Despite the fact that 88 percent of these schools are in rural regions, the state requires almost two lakh teachers to meet the student-teacher ratio.

According to the data, the state has 3,40,477 instructors working in its 68,717 schools. Currently, around 11% of these institutions demand 28,816 instructors.
