Odisha CM and other leaders welcome PM’s farm law repeal decision
Bhubaneswar: Naveen Patnaik, the chief minister, applauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement on Friday that the contentious agriculture legislation would be repealed.
In a tweet, Naveen stated that the prime minister's decision to remove all three farm laws is in the country's and farmers' best interests. "Your farms and families have been waiting for you for a long time, and they would be delighted to see you return," he said, adding that BJD remains committed to the farmers.
Ganeswar Behera, the state Congress leader, backed Modi's decision to scrap the agriculture legislation. "We applaud the government's decision. Congress has opposed these so-called "black legislation" from the start. Farmers have been protesting for more than a year, and the outcome is now," he said.
Tathagat Satpathy, a former BJD leader, stated on Twitter that the farmers had won the war. "How can farms and families...welcome you back?" It was a fight. People were killed. Farmers were victorious. "I hope Orissa reverses these laws as well," he remarked.
"We have chosen to repeal all three farm laws," Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated in his Friday morning address to the country. In the parliament session that begins at the end of this month, we will begin the constitutional procedure to repeal all three laws."
President Ram Nath Kovind offered his approval to the three bills enacted by Parliament in September of last year. Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020, Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020, and Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020 are the three bills.
Farmers have been demonstrating on the streets of New Delhi for the past year, voicing their opposition to the farm regulations.
