Crorepati Engineer arrested by Odisha vigilance
Bhubaneswar: An engineer was arrested on Thursday after his homes were searched by Odisha Vigilance for allegedly having disproportionate assets worth over Rs 2.7 crore. This includes cash in demonetised currency worth Rs 35,000.
According to officers with the Vigilance Department, the total value of the seizures exceeded 397 percent of his known sources of income.
The possessions of Rusinath Baral, an assistant executive engineer based at Ranpur in Nayagarh district, were searched by Vigilance. The raids took place in four locations in the districts of Khurda, Nayagarh, and Dhenkanal.
He and his wife have been charged with a crime.
A list of mobile and immovable properties discovered during the raids is as follows:
A three-story structure in Bhubaneswar's Chandrasekharpur, a single-story building in Dhenkanal's Sadangi hamlet, and nine plots in Bhubaneswar, including seven in Sadangi, one in Chandrasekharpur, and another in Gothpatna.
A four-wheeler, a two-wheeler, over Rs 44.73 lakh in bank deposits, over Rs 13.42 lakh in insurance deposits, over Rs 9.04 lakh in gold and silver jewellery, and Rs 1.3 lakh in cash
Their entire value was estimated to be around Rs 2.51 crore by vigilance officials. In addition, he was found with Rs 35,000 in demonetised cash.
