Five held for fish trader's murder in Odisha's Balasore

Balasore: On Thursday, five people, including a woman, were arrested in connection with the December 18 murder of fish dealer Rabi Singh in the district's Sahadebkhunta police station area.

Sheikh Yusuf, his mother Majeda Bibi, and their colleagues Sheikh Ramzan, Sheikh Lal, and Sheikh Amir have all been named as suspects.

On the night of December 18, they allegedly stabbed Singh multiple times in the chest with a knife before fleeing the scene. Singh died as a result of his injuries.

The police had received a complaint from Singh's brother. According to police officials in Sahadevkhunta, the accused saw Singh sitting along the Galapola railway tracks when they attacked him over an old grudge. He was transported to Fakir Mohan Medical College and pronounced dead.

The accused's bail request was denied, and they were placed in judicial custody.

The accused's possessions included the murder weapon, a cellphone, and one bicycle.
