'Murder' of Sanjay Dasburma's aid will be investigated by Odisha Crime Branch

Bhubaneswar: On Wednesday, DGP Abhay directed Crime Branch to take over the probe into the alleged murder of Chitta Ranjan Palei, a close friend of BJD politician and State Planning Board deputy chairman Sanjay Dasburma.
Palei, a native of Brahmagiri's Sanabenakudi hamlet, was found dead in the Nuanai river on Monday, and his family demanded a CB investigation the next day, alleging that he was murdered in a planned manner by his friend Jagannath Sarangi.
Puri Additional SP Purna Chandra Pradhan has created a special investigation team (SIT) to look into Chitta's death. In this case, five people were detained and interrogated, including Jagannath.
Chitta vanished after a Friday night picnic with friends. When he did not return home, his family filed a missing person report with the police. Later, cops discovered Jagannath with critical injuries near Gadamrugasira hamlet, which is under the Sadar police jurisdiction. At the scene, bloodstains and Chitta's possessions were discovered.
