COVID Help Desks for Vulnerable Tribal Groups opened

Rayagada: The district administration opened COVID ‘Sahayata Kendras (help desks) for tribal communities who are most vulnerable on Saturday (PVTGs).

Tuku Barik, project administrator, ITDA, Rayagada, said the second wave of COVID-19 has severely affected people in Odisha, particularly PVTGs, as he inaugurated the support desk at Khambesi PHC under Bissamcuttack block. To combat the pandemic, the assistance desks will play an essential role in providing valuable information on the virus, optimal health and nutrition behaviour, and myths among the SC, ST, and PVTGs.

In addition, mobile awareness vehicles were deployed to raise community understanding of COVID-appropriate behaviour and mobilise individuals to be vaccinated.

Child in Need Institute (CINI) organised the inaugural ceremony in collaboration with IndusInd Bank Ltd's CSR wing, with the cooperation of the district administration.

On the occasion, Dr Ansuprava Choudhury, medical officer, Community Health Centre (CHC) Bissamcuttack; CDPO Susila Sabar and Dr Unnati Rana, medical officer in-charge, Khambesi PHC; local tribal leader Jitu Jakesika and sarpanch Drinja Jakesika distributed wellness, hygiene, and kitchen garden kits to tribal families and frontline workers.
