Vinesh Phogat's appeal against Olympic disqualification has been accepted, and a hearing is scheduled for today.

Vinesh Phogat's appeal against her disqualification from the Olympics was accepted by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Thursday. A hearing will take place in Paris today at 10 am local time. Vinesh Phogat, who had reached the final of the women's 50kg freestyle category, was disqualified for being 100 grams overweight during the weigh-in on the day of the final.

In a social media post, Vinesh Phogat announced her retirement from wrestling and appealed against the decision to the CAS. The CAS accepted Vinesh's plea at 3 pm Paris time and asked her to appoint lawyers for the hearing. The Indian government has requested renowned lawyer Harish Salve to represent them in the case. The deadline to appoint a lawyer is 6 pm Paris time, and the Indian camp has been given time until 9.30 pm IST on Thursday to appoint an Indian lawyer for the hearing.

Harish Salve will be representing the Indian Olympic Association at the Court of Arbitration for Sport in the Vinesh Phogat disqualification matter. He will appear virtually at the hearing and has been briefed on the case.

Vinesh Phogat made two appeals to the CAS - first, to be allowed to take part in Thursday's final, and second for a joint silver medal. Her first appeal was rejected, and her second appeal was considered. Despite her strong performance, including a win over defending champion Yui Susaki of Japan, her dreams were dashed with her disqualification.
