Cuttack: On Sunday morning, a police officer was killed when he was hit by a speeding car at Charigharia Square on the Banki-Cuttack road.
Constable Ramesh Chandra Parida has been identified as the dead. He was assigned to the police station at Kainmundi.
Parida was hit by a car while out for a morning walk, according to sources. He passed away on the spot. The driver lost control of the vehicle after the crash, and it went off the road. The automobile, which was travelling from Athagarh to Bhubaneswar, was carrying two young men and a woman. Two of them have been admitted to a Banki hospital.
The car has been impounded, and the driver has been arrested.
