Woman Arrested For Smuggling Ganja To Delhi

Koraput: On Saturday, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) detained a 50-year-old woman for smuggling ganja valued over Rs one lakh at Koraput railway station.

RPF officials checked with train escorting employees on the Kirandul-Visakhapatnam Passenger train on Friday after receiving reliable information that the woman, identified as Chindo of Haryana, was carrying the contraband, according to RPF sources.

They discovered Chindo in the D3 coach with the ganja in a trolley bag. At the railway station in Koraput, she was held. Her possessions were taken, including 22.7 kg of ganja worth Rs 1,13,500.

The woman was arrested and taken to court after going through the legal process in front of an Executives Magistrate.

Chindo admitted to the RPF that she was transporting contraband to New Delhi. At Visakhapatnam, she intended to change trains.
