Journalists who lost their lives to covid receive ex-gratia in Ganjam
Chhatrapur: Amruta Kulange, the Ganjam Collector, gave Rs 15 lakh in ex-gratia to the families of seven journalists who died after contracting Covid-19.
In spite of the state-wide shutdown, numerous journalists have been infected with Covid-19 virus, according to reports. Six of the seven journalists who died from Covid-19 had their families receive Rs 15 lakh in compensation from the Collector.
Patients Govinda Behera and Ratnakar Maharan died from Corona while receiving treatment. Kishore Chandra Dash, Karunakar Sahu, Nilayaranjan Patniak, and Naresh Behera also died.
This is part of a state government initiative to support families of scribes who have lost their life while working for media outlets. The Collector thanked the government for the gesture and gave out checks.
