Dhenkanal: Uttam Kumar Rout, the chief clerk of the Dhenkanal Law College, was arrested by the Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday while reportedly accepting a bribe of Rs 8,500.
Sources claim that the Vigilance team set a trap and caught the inspector in the act of collecting payment in exchange for delivering a former student's Law Degree (LLB) Certificate. Allegedly, Rout requested Rs 10,000. Later, after receiving a bribe of Rs. 8,500, he consented to give the certificate.
According to Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption(Amendment) Act, 2018, a case has been filed, and concurrent searches are being made at his home in Dhenkanal town to look for disproportionate assets.
