Huge blast at Balanga Police Station in Puri

Puri: After a bloat in the lock-up cell (malkhana) late on Monday night, part of the roof of Balanga Police Station in Puri District had been blown away.
The event occurred around 12 noon when an explosion occurred in the lock-up area, according to sources. The intensity of the explosion was so extreme that part of the police station roof was torn off, all assets including files and electronics were totally ruined.
Saroj Behera, a centurion at night's service, however, had a narrow escape when he rushed away from the Police Station instantly after listening to the explosion.
Puri SP Vishal Kanwar Singh came on Tuesday for on-site inquiry at the police station.
In a preliminary inquiry, the police recently confiscated and kept the explosive items in the lock-up cell.
