Odisha's Ganjam closes religious places till January 31
Ganjam: Due to an increase in COVID cases, the Ganjam administration has announced the closure of religious sites in the district to the public from January 9 to January 31.
Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange stated that the district administration made this decision to avoid crowding at religious sites.
However, all rituals will be carried out by servitors in strict accordance with COVID-19 protocols.
Notably, the Jagannath temple in Puri will be closed to visitors from January 10 to January 31.
Puri Collector Samarth Verma announced that the temple will be closed to devotees due to an increase in COVID cases in the town and across the country. The servitors will, however, perform daily rituals and special occasions in accordance with tradition, he added.
