Nuapada: On Thursday, a truck carrying coal struck and killed a police trainee SI in Gotma Chhak, which is within the jurisdiction of Jonk police in the Nuapada district of Odisha.
Sudhanshu Shekhar Pandey, a resident of the district's Baira hamlet, has been named as the deceased.
Sources claim that Sudhanshu was on Nuakhai visiting his family. He was travelling to the adjacent market when a truck struck his bike, causing him to fall from the vehicle and get run over.
The truck has been impounded by police, who have also detained the driver to question him.
Previously a constable, Sudhanshu was recently upgraded to the position of SI and was receiving training in Angul.
