Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has wished noted Odia vocalist Pranab Patnaik a speedy recovery while he is receiving treatment for health-related complications at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has wished noted Odia vocalist Pranab Patnaik a speedy recovery while he is receiving treatment for health-related complications at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.

A delegation led by Odisha Film Development Corporation chairman Satyabrata Tripathy, Odia Language Literature & Culture department Director Dilip Routrai, Joint Director Subodh Chandra Acharya, and Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi Prabodh Rath visited the ailing singer in the hospital on Wednesday and presented him with a cheque for Rs 1 lakh to help with his treatment.

The medical arrangements will be overseen by Director Dilip Rautrai.

Pranab Patnaik, who was born on January 20, 1938, was inspired by his father, Late Lal Mohan Patnaik, a former Speaker of the Odisha Legislative Assembly.He began his musical career as a playback singer in the film 'Maa' in 1958. He primarily sang Odissi, folk, devotional, semi-classical, and traditional songs, but he also sang Hindi and ghazal numbers.

He also had the opportunity to perform with famous singers such as Usha Mangeshkar, Bhupinder Singh, Hemelata, and Vani Jayram. He has received the state's highest film award, the Jayadev Samman.
