Mahant Arrested For Murder In Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: Dasarath Behera, the Mahant of Shree Chaitanya Gosain Mutt in the district, was arrested on a murder accusation on Saturday.
On Tuesday night, Behera allegedly killed Uddhab Patra, a scrap collector from the Bhuban area. On Wednesday morning, the body of Uddhab, who had been bludgeoned to death, was discovered on the premises of the mutt in Mandara village, Gondia police limits.
According to police sources, after Uddhab threatened to reveal his criminal records to authorities, the Mahant, who had been jailed on suspicion, confessed to having committed the crime. Behera has been reported to the authorities, and an inquiry is underway.
Behera of Anlajhari village in Bhuban had divorced his wife in 1997, according to the police probe. He later enticed a girl and had a physical relationship with her. Behera allegedly murdered her in 2011 after she gave birth to a daughter kid.
According to the accounts, he has been staying as Mahant at the Mandar Chaitanya Gosain Mutt since then.
