Young man dies in hunters’ trap, 9 arrested in Deogarh

Deogarh: On Saturday, nine persons were detained for alleged participation in the death of a man who was electrocuted after getting into contact with a live wire left out for wild animals in Odisha's Deogarh district's Reamal area.

According to sources, those arrested included Nisabira residents Bisnu Pradhan, Taanlu Sahu, Pratap Kisan, Tanu Pradhan, Bikas Kisan, Arjun Pradhan, Pramod Pradhan, Manas Sahu, and Babuli Sahu.

Deba Sahu (50), of the same hamlet, died on Monday, and his son filed a complaint with the local police the next day.

During the inquiry, authorities discovered that ten poachers had laid down live electric wire in order to kill wild animals. Poachers were active in Nisabira and nearby communities.

According to authorities, a police team invaded the area and detained the suspects after receiving information that they were hiding in a nearby woodland.

They also took a country-made rifle, sharp weapons, 500 metres of electric wire, 200 metres of aluminium wire, a bamboo stick to hook the wire, and other goods from their possession.
