Former Sarpanch's Mutilated Body Discovered in Ganjam

Berhampur: On Friday, the mangled body of a former sarpanch from Banthapali in Ganjam district was discovered on the side of the road in the city.

According to reports, the sarpanch, Pradip Bisoi, left his Gate Bazaar home on his motorcycle and was heading towards Anantai. He is believed to have been murdered by thugs near the Baurisukunda water plant, which is located inside the Bada Bazar police jurisdiction.

Police went to the scene after being alerted by neighbours who had discovered the body. The body of the sarpanch was sent for a post-mortem after the police identified him, and a complaint was filed. More research is being carried out.

Bisoi had previously been convicted of a crime and sentenced to prison. According to the sources, he was released on parole a few days ago.

Though the actual reason of the sarpanch's death is unknown, the police believe it was the result of an ancient feud.
