Bhubaneswar: As the BJP intensified its attack on the Odisha government over the murder of Naba Das, its youth wing announced plans on Thursday to gherao the state Assembly on February 28 to protest the deteriorating law and order situation.
At a press conference in Bhubaneswar, state BJP Yuva Morcha president Irasis Acharya stated that the protest would continue until the investigation into Naba Das' mysterious murder was completed. He predicted that the party would increase the commotion in the coming days.
Acharya slammed the state government, claiming that despite being in power for the past 23 years, the BJD has failed to provide safety and security to the people. During the BJD regime, he claimed, people in the state are not safe and secure.
Acharya stated that state BJP Yuva Morcha activists will stage a demonstration and gherao the state Assembly on February 28 and that the agitation will continue until the government ensures the safety of the people and provides justice to the family of Naba Das.
The BJP has claimed that there was a deep conspiracy behind the murder of Minister Naba Das, who was shot in the chest on January 29 by a police officer Gopal Das near Gandhi Chowk in Brajarajnagar, Jharsuguda district. He died of his injuries hours later in a hospital in Bhubaneswar.
