Headmaster Gets 20 Years In Jail For Molesting Schoolgirl in Odisha

Balangir: The principal of an upper primary school in Odisha's Balangir was sentenced to 20 years in prison by the POCSO court for sexually assaulting female students.
The court also imposed a Rs 50,000 fine on convict Biswanath Buddhia. If he does not pay the fee, he faces an additional two years in prison.
Buddhia was a teacher at Mursingh Upper Primary School in the Deogaon block. He used to summon senior female students to his office cabin and assault them sexually. He also threatened the girls with expulsion if they mentioned it to anybody. The crime came to light after one of the victims told her parents about her ordeal.
On August 22, 2022, people gheraoed the school and demanded that the headmaster be suspended immediately.
The district education officer suspended him after taking the matter seriously, and he was later detained by Deogaon police.
