Bhubaneswar delivery boy was apprehended in Madhya Pradesh after feigning kidnapping

Bhubaneswar: In a new twist on the claimed kidnapping of a delivery guy in the city, it has been revealed that he stage-managed the incident and eloped to Madhya Pradesh with a girl.

After his family submitted a complaint about his kidnapping on Saturday night, the Commissionerate Police initiated a search operation to find the delivery boy, Patitapaban Prusty.

Patitapaban's family learned of his kidnapping after his wife received a voice message from four inebriated youngsters who kidnapped him in an auto-rickshaw along the Daya river in the city's Lingipur neighbourhood. Patitapaban and his wife live in Vijay Vihar, a neighbourhood of Dhauli's Nuagan police station.

Patitapaban's wife informed the reporters that about 10 p.m., her husband texted her. However, there was no network at the time, so she didn't see the message until around 2 a.m. A pair of sandals, a vest, a wallet, a backpack, and a knife were discovered from the murder site by police.

After a girl's family from the Gop area of Puri district filed a complaint with the local police station stating that Patitapaban had abducted her, police suspected the kidnapping.

Patitapaban had an affair with their daughter, according to the family, before his marriage to a woman from their community a year ago. They sent the police a love letter from their daughter and said that the two talked on the phone every day and that Patitapaban came to their house on a regular basis.

The Gop police reported the complaint to the Dhauli Police, who launched an inquiry and found Patitapaban and the girl in Katni, Madhya Pradesh.

Commissionerate police have dispatched a search team to Katni. According to police sources, Patitapaban was detained at the GRP police station there and will be taken here.

After Patitapaban arrives, the police will expose the specifics of the phoney kidnapping.
