Puri: On Sunday, Snake Helpline members rescued a cobra from a deserted house in Nanakera hamlet near Kanasa in Puri district.

Nanakera has been inundated as a result of severe rain, and flood water from the Rajua river has entered the village. Several areas and roads in the village have knee-deep water flowing.

Somanath Baliyarsingh's residence in the village, which has been flooded for the previous five days, was home to a four-foot-long snake. The villagers called the snake helpline in an attempt to save the serpent, and one of its members, Sushant Behera, arrived at the scene with the help of a floating tube.

The cobra was removed from the house and released into the nearby bush by Sushant.
