Sonepur: The baby girl who was abducted from DHH on Saturday by an unidentified mother was discovered on a roadside near here on Sunday.

The kid was discovered laying by the Sonepur-Balangir road near Saradhapali hamlet early in the morning, and the Pratappur police were notified. The police hurried to the scene because they had initiated a search operation after the newborn's father filed a complaint.

The infant girl was taken to the district headquarters hospital, where her mother, Santosini, was able to identify her. According to hospital sources, the newborn's condition was steady.

Santosini, Gajendra Tandi's wife from Sandha village in Birmaharajpur police limits, gave birth to the girl on Friday in DHH. Because there were no beds available in the maternity ward, the hospital provided Santosini with a bed on the floor to relax with her newborn daughter.

On Saturday morning, while Santosini had gone to bathroom leaving her daughter in the care of her mother-in-law, a woman came to the ward and took Santosini’s daughter on some pretext and fled.

Later, Gajendra lodged a complaint at Sonepur police station after failing to find the unknown woman and his daughter despite a desperate search.
