Balangir: A Hindi teacher has been arrested by police in Odisha's Balangir district for allegedly obtaining a job by presenting a forged certificate proving her educational qualifications.
According to sources, the accused, Manmayee Panda, has been working as a Hindi teacher at a high school in the district's Puintala block for the past ten years.
However, it was reportedly discovered that she had provided fake documents during the examination of her BEd and other certificates.
Following that, the Balangir District Education Officer (DEO) filed a police complaint against the teacher. It is unclear how and where the teacher obtained the forged certificate. The DEO has filed a complaint against four teachers for submitting fraudulent certificates.
According to the complaint, Panda has been detained in Balangir for questioning in order to ascertain the facts. Other teachers against whom a complaint has been filed are likely to be arrested soon.
It should be noted that, following the recent discovery of an organized fake certificate racket in the district, the authorities are conducting a thorough examination of the certificates submitted by teachers and others.
