Bhubaneswar: The CBI has filed a FIR against four East Coast Railway (ECoR) officials and two others for allegedly accepting bribes in exchange for voting in favor of an accused firm on a project in Odisha.

According to sources, a tender was issued in 2015 for the execution of signaling and telecommunication works, as well as the supply of critical materials, in connection with the railway electrification work in the Angul-Sambalpur section of the EcoR's Sambalpur division in Odisha.

The tender was awarded to Kiran Infra Engineers Limited of Jaipur, which quoted a price of Rs 7,10,87,7901.

Kishore Sharma, Director of Kiran Infra, then authorized Sorabh Dhanuka, a Visakhapatnam resident, to carry out the tender work.

According to them, Dhanuka and his father, Raj Kumar Dhanuka, were partners in the firm B K Enterprise.

It was also discovered that Raj Kumar ran another firm, Raj Kumar & Co., which shared the same office address as B K Enterprise.

Four officials of EcoR - Subhas Chandra Das, Jalasutra Sumurtti, Sanjib Kumar Sahoo and Gopabandhu Bhoi - obtained undue pecuniary advantage to the tune of Rs 13,32,0001 from B K Enterprise and Raj Kumar & Co through banking transactions in their names as well as in the names of their family members, without consideration from the concerned person (Sorabh Dhanuka), with whom they had official transaction, CBI was quoted by news agency IANS as saying.

The CBI has filed a FIR against the accused persons under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The ECoR officials named in the CBI case did not respond immediately.
