Jagatsinghpur: In the aftermath of persistent rains and waterlogging since Sunday evening, the Jagatsinghpur district administration has moved as many as 1887 persons living in low-lying regions of the district to safety.

According to sources, the district administration is relocating residents living in dangerous mud huts in low-lying locations, particularly in Naugaon, Ersama, Balikuda, and Jagatsinghpur, to highrise structures and cyclone shelters.

25 persons and their animals were saved from two flooded regions in Naugaon, 41 from Balikuda, and 1821 from Erasama block, and dry food was distributed at the rescue centres. According to the reports, all Block Development officials and Tehsildars have been asked to guarantee that no one is left behind during the rescue operation.
