Koraput: Together with the Vigilance Director Lalit Dash, the IG Operations Amitabh Thakur and the southern-west DIG Rajesh Pandits and other senior officials, two Maois woman surrendered before the General Director of Police Abhay who visited the Districts last Sunday.

Sources indicate that Deva Padiami (alias Gangi Padiami) and Gita Padiami (alias Rajita) who is a member of the Gumma Region Committee surrendered to authorities. At least seven incidences of violence were reported by Deva who joined the Kalimela factions of maoists in 2005. In 2008, after learning how to handle weapons, she had worked in Machhkund and Gumma. She was elevated to the position of regional commander in 2020 and supervised the special border zone militia committee maoist activities of Andhra-Odisha, the DGP added.

Likewise, in 2018 Gita Padiami joined the Maoist movement and collaborated with Natya Mandali, a member of the military Dandakaranya. She participated in four police violence incidents. She has worked Swabhiman anchal and peda Bailu region of Andhra Pradesh from Manikar under the Gangler station of the Bijapur district.

Deluded by the Maoist doctrine and by the State Government's tempting package, she chose to surrender to the police.

Earlier, Abhay had visited the Malkangiri district Block by helicopter to inaugurate a Jodamba BSF police station and then walked to Kalimela to open a 3-story structure. Later, he arrived at Malkangiri Police Superintendent's office where he met BSF and police officers with a close-door meeting.
