Bhubaneswar: Odisha today has 50,19,259 persons who are fully immunised. The state has reached the 50 lakh double dose immunisation milestone, with over 1 lakh people receiving the vaccine in the last 24 hours.

On August 25, according to the CoWin state dashboard, 1,09,419 dosages were given out, with 61,365 receiving the first shot and 48,054 receiving the second.

Of the 3.1 crore people who are eligible, 2.1 crore have received at least one dose of the COVID vaccine.

This is significant since the third wave is expected to impact the country between September and October, according to experts.

Bijay Panigrahi, Director, Health and Family Welfare, told the media that vaccination will pick up from August 28 forward, with over 100 places participating everyday.

Following immunisation, the state has reported 33,906 infections, with 18,488 people testing positive after the first dosage and 15,418 after the second. According to official sources, there have been 9,294 breakthrough infections.

A COVID case that occurs 14 or more days after the recommended doses of an authorised vaccination have been completed is referred to as a breakthrough infection.

“After analysing the data collected from all districts, a high-level committee constituted to analyse the breakthrough infection in the state has delivered its report,” a senior health official stated.
